We had an elusive Northern Saw-whet Owl show up in the yard yesterday. At only 8 inches from head-to-tail, this is by far the smallest owl I've photographed.
Just hangin' out. It is rare to find them in the open, as dense conifers are their preferred perch.
In the lean-to. It took us a while to find it here. We looked first in all the surrounding trees, thinking that is where he had gone. But after we had almost given up, we found him watching us from the handle of the tiller.
